Table Top Art Competition

We’re very close to Cambridge and also have a very intellectual, artistic and musical population close by. So we have been thinking about introducing more art space. However, we are tiny and 500 years old and have very limited wall space.

We were thinking about lots of art and have been reflecting on the religious iconography and panels that were beautifully created in the renaissance. So I googled images of art on wood panels and there were tons!

So here’s the idea – we have 14 wooden table tops which are plain and ordinary. Why not invite the fabulous artists we know and their recommended friends to create a master piece on our table tops, protected by yacht varnish for our guests to enjoy.

What’s in it for the artist? A payment in great hospitality, food and drink and a permanent display  for their work in a key demographic area. We will have individual exhibition launches with each table top over the next year for the public to enjoy each artist individually. Along with this is the knowledge that you are supporting a beautiful rural pub.

We love this idea and would love for you to be involved and for you to invite the excellent artists you know to be involved in this project and bid by sketch to us at The Red Cow.

Our broad theme is “The Four Seasons”

Forward entries to us at The Red Cow via any of the contact methods by 31st January, Competition will be judged in the first two weeks of February.

Shooting Season

Let us take all the fuss out of the day for you and so you can relax and enjoy the day as much as your guests will.

Following successfully entertaining a number of shooting parties last year we have produced several options for meals throughout the day and evening which we think you will find hit just the right spot before, during or after your day out in the fresh air.

We have a hearty English Breakfast served at the pub from 8am, Elevensies which we can pack up for you to take out with you, as well as Red Cow Rustic Packed Lunches; traditional, warming and wholesome. And of course the all important shoot dinner.

Dinner can either be an informal “digging in” meal of larger dish meals such as shepherd’s pie. Or a more formal meal plated by Toby in the kitchen and served to the table.

Please see below for the options we have for you. But also do not hesitate to contact us if you would like anything specifically for your party which we can tailor make just for you.
